This was the Red Eagles’ first game of the campaign while Mbarara were playing their second game.

Mbarara had the best chance in the first when Kisitu Nvule Jamil fed Henry Kitegenyi early in the first period but the striker’s effort was well saved by Express FC custodian Abdul Kimera.

Arthur Kiggundu nearly gave the home side the lead but his effort from a free kick kissed the crossbar.

Five minutes after the recess, Mbarara City’s Hussein Mwanje had his attempt hit the post.

By fulltime whistle the two sides settled for a point each.

The Red Eagles will next visit wounded Busoga United while Mbarara host Vipers SC next week.
