Mutyaba stars as Villa edge Vipers

SC Villa returned to winning ways with a 1-0 win over Vipers SC at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku on Saturday.

Charles Bbaale first half goal was enough to see Villa keep their title hopes alive.

The Jogoos came into the contest after suffering back to back defeats to Arua Hill SC and KCCA FC.

Bbaale headed home a quality Travis Mutyaba ball in the 33rd minute to send the Jogoos faithfuls into a bouncing frenzy.

Mutyaba was named man of the match for his astonishing performance.

This was the forward’s 10th goal in the league this season and is currently second on the top scorers chart.

Vipers defender Livingstone Mulondo suffered a head injury before the break after colliding with Mutyaba. Mulondo was replaced by Rogers Torach.

Vipers came close to levelling matters in the second half but Karim Ndugwa’s header kissed the crossbar in the final minutes of the contest

Villa remain top of the log with 46 points after 24 games while Vipers are third with 39 points in 21 games.

Jackson Magera’s side next travel to in form Maroons FC on Wednesday whereas Vipers face Gaddafi FC on Tuesday at Kakindu Stadium.
