Reagan Mpande seals Villa’s thrilling comeback win over Wakiso Giants

Reagan Mpande was the hero for SC Villa who completed a second half comeback thanks to his winner in their 3-2 victory over Wakiso Giants at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.

The record Uganda Premier league champions got off to disappointing start having found themselves 2-0 down, courtesy of Samson Kigozi and Hassan Ssenyonjo goals.

Kigozi gave the Purple Sharks the lead in the first period before Ssenyonjo doubled their advantage in the 52nd minute.

Wakiso could have scored more in the first period with Kenneth Kimera the culprit for missing two golden goalkeeper to beat chances.

Ronald Ssekiganda inspired a comeback with a powerful header off Gavin Kizito Mugweri’s perfect cross in the 66th minute.

Second half substitute Umar Lutalo levelled matters from the spot ten minutes to normal time before Mpande completed the remarkable comeback in the 87th minute after being fed by Patrick Jonah Kakande.

Victory takes SC Villa into third place with 48 points and just a point within leaders BUL FC while Wakiso Giants stay 12th with 29 points.

SC Villa next travel to relegation threatened UPDF FC while Wakiso Giants host Mbarara City on Saturday, May 11th.
