Bashir Mutanda and midfielder Alfred Onek scored for SC Villa and Bright Stars respectively to end the tie in a 1-1 draw at Namboole.

The Bright stars had a terribly smart build up to goal in the 25th minute but skipper Nelson Ssenkatuka was denied by Said Keni in goal for SC Villa despite being a one on situation.

41 minutes into play, the Bright stars’ defence was caught in a mix up when defender Asuman Alishe made a long diagonal pass to meet Bashir Mutanda who confidently faced off with defenders in the goal area and eventually scored his 11th goal of the season and the first on the evening to send the Jogoo faithfuls in jubilation.

However, Villa’s joy was short-lived as defender Dan Birikwalira made a marvelous over lap and set up Alfred Onek with a sweet cross to tap home for an equaliser just 3 minutes later.

Into the second half, Dan Birikwalira went off limping and was replaced by Henry Kiwanuka in a move by coach Fred Kajoba to find a winning goal on the evening.

Striker Nelson Senkatuka had another open opportunity with only goalkeeper to beat but was still denied by Said Keni whose reaction was quick enough to save the situation with only 15 minutes of normal time left to play.

Bright stars remain 8th on the log of 16 teams with 22 points while SC Villa are now 12th despite having the same number of points (15) with Maroons who are in the 13 position.

The next fixtures will see Bright stars host KCCA FC at Mwererwe while SC Villa will visit Vipers SC at the St.Mary’s Stadium at Kitende on 9th, 02, 2019.
