Ronald Orombi hit a 32 minute goal that proved match winner as Villa suffered their 3rd defeat in the last four matches and all but put paid to their title ambitions.

They now have to win all their remaining three games and pray for a total breakdown for KCCA and Vipers if they are to win the league.

Back from a morale boosting victory against Vipers at Wankulukuku, Villa hoped to build on that momentum but the opposite happened as they failed to recover from Orombi’s early strike.

Efforts by Magera to chase the game in the second period with the introduction of the fit again Jonah Kakande but it proved futile. The U-20 international hit the woodwork.

Maroons’ victory see them leap to 5th place on 36 points , making them the best performing of all the newly promoted sides.

Next up for Villa is a home game against Blacks Power at Wankulukuku, whereas Maroons will visit Gaddafi on the 9th of May.
