Mbarara City see off Jinja North to claim top of the table

Jude Ssemugabi and Henry Kitegenyi scored each in Mbarara City FC’s 2-0 victory against Jinja North United to claim top of the Big League table.

Ssemugabi dribbled past two Jinja North United defenders to score the opener for the Ankole Lions in the 56 minute of the game.

Eight minutes later, Kitegenyi extended the lead for Sadick Ssempigi’s coached side off Ibrahim Tembo’s well delivered cross.

Victory sends the Ankole Lions to the top of the table with 34 points from 17 games, one above second placed Kitara FC that played to a one all draw with Booma FC in the Bunyoro derby.

NEC FC and Police FC come next with 32 points each.

Jinja North United occupy the 11 position with 20 points from the same number of games.

The two sides will next play on Thursday 23rd February.

Mbarara City will be away against Lugazi FC at Lugazi Stadium while Jinja North United FC will host Kitara FC at Kyabazinga Stadium in Bugembe
