Resurgent Express seek rare away victory at Soltilo Bright Stars

Soltilo Bright Stars entertain Express FC at the Kavumba Recreation Grounds in one of the three Uganda Premier League games on the day.

The Red Eagles are enjoying an improved performance having won all their last three league games convincingly against Onduparaka, BUL FC and Busoga United.

Bright Stars who ended their four match losing streak in the league with a 1-0 win over Onduparaka last week, are targeting consistency and ascendency on the table.

Bright Stars are 10th with 27 points and are a place and a point below their visitors Express.

Reactions

Asaph Mwebaze the Bright Stars coach expressed readiness for the encounter and targets a double over the Red Eagles.

“We have been preparing well for this game, and the players are in good shape. We know that Express is a strong team, but we are ready for the challenge. We have been working on our tactics and game plan, and I believe that we are well prepared for this match.”

He said via the club media.

James Odoch, the Express gaffer cautioned against stubborn opponents who will be banking on their home advantage.

” Bright stars FC is not an easy team to play at their home ground, they’ve got a good squad which can ably compete on pitch. We’ve worked on our mistakes as observed in the previous games and we will be the better side tomorrow as we aim to finish in a good position by the closure of the league.”

Team News

Soltilo Bright Stars have all their players available for selection. Defender Warren Buule is the only doubt after picking up a knock but will undergo a late test before the game.

Express will miss Ivan Mayanja and Shafik Ssebyala who are in a recovery process while striker Anwar Ntege serves his final game of suspension.

Defender Derrick Ngoobi returns from suspension and will be expected to face his former side while Arthur Kiggundu will require a late fitness test.

The previous 20 meetings between both sides have been dominated by draws. Both Express and Bright Stars have managed to win five of the 20 meetings while 10 games have been draws.

The reverse fixture at Wankulukuku ended 2-0 in favour of Bright Stars thanks to a Nelson Senkatuka brace.

Allan Kayiwa who is the league’s joint leading scorer with nine goals will be the player to watch for Express.

Vipers will be facing off with Arua Hill at the Barifa Stadium in Arua while Maroons take on UPDF at Luzira.
