Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Alionzi Nafian has completed his long-awaited transfer to Ethiopian giants Mekelakeya SC, Swift Sports reliably confirms.
Alionzi has put pen to paper on a one year contract with the Ethiopia Army side.
The transfer ends his seven year stay at URA FC having been a Tax Collector since 2016.
Alionzi was previously a transfer target of UPL giants Vipers and KCCA FC but was also linked to Ethiopian heavyweights St. George.
Mekelakeya SC, also know as Mechal or Defence Forces SC, is the second most successful club in Ethiopian football history after St. George.
They have 11 league titles with the last one coming in 1989 and 14 Ethiopian Cups.
Last season, Mekelakeya finished distant 9th on the league table with 40 points from 30 games played.
Simon Peter Oketch, Charles Musiige and goalkeeper Robert Odongkara are other Ugandan players featuring in the BetKing Ethiopian Premier League.
