Uganda Bombers captain Joshua Tukamuhebwa and Fathia Mawanda powered into the Quarterfinals of the ongoing Africa Boxing Olympic Qualifiers in Dakar, Senegal.
Tukamuhebwa registered another knockout after beating Gabon’s Ndjinga Clinton Farlo in the second round of the Men’s 63.5Kg round of 16 bout.
To reach the round of 16, the Bombers skipper stopped Ethiopia’s Alem Gebremariam on Sunday.
Tukamuhebwa will now face off with Tunisia’s Dridi Mehdi in the Quarterfinal on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Mawanda cruised to the Quarterfinal stage after beating Senegal’s Sow Pape Mamadou in the Men’s 51Kg fight.
He powered into the last eight with a unanimous win (5-0) and will return to action tomorrow against Allotey Theophilus Kpakpo who beat Mtintelwa Sinovuyo of South Africa (5-0).
Today is a rest day and action will resume on Wednesday with the Quarterfinal stage.
