Mawokota will continue with their bid for a fourth Masaza Cup crown when they host Buwekula tormentors Bulemeezi in the first leg of the Semifinal at Buwama on Sunday.
Richard Malinga’s charges needed a late Joseph Kayondo strike to overcome Buvuma at the Quarterfinal stage.
Bulemeezi under new tactician Ibrahim Kirya stunned Buwekula away from home to prevail to this stage.
George Masembe scored the two important goals for the two time competition winners.
Mawokota are yet to lose at Buwama playground this campaign but Bulemeezi will be motivated with their win away at Buwekula the previous weekend.
Malinga’s side is desperate to end their 10 year drought without winning the Championship.
They last won it in 2013 courtesy of a Farouk Miya late free kick goal against Ssingo. Mawokota also won the competition in 2004 and 2007.
Bulemeezi are previous winners in 2012 and 2019. Last year they were eliminated at this stage by Buddu.
Their head coach Kirya is a Masaza Cup winning coach with Gomba in 2020 and a losing finalist for last year’s edition with Buddu.
His counterpart, Malinga is targeting his maiden final having fell short in 2021 edition when he lost to Buwekula in the Semifinal.
Meanwhile, Gomba will host Buddu in the other Semifinal at Kabulasoke playground on the same day
