FUFA appoints South African Sheryl Botes as Crested Cranes head coach

FUFA has appointed South African tactician Sheryl Botes as the Uganda Crested Cranes head coach.

The development was confirmed by the FUFA President Eng.Moses Magogo on Wednesday at FUFA House in Mengo.

“We received over 40 applications, they were five Ugandans. We did an analysis and it has taken us time to get an experienced and qualified coach in women football on the continent and in the world.” Said Magogo during the unveiling ceremony at FUFA.

Botes signed a three year employment contract with the Federation and takes over from interim coach Charles Ayiekoh.

She will also oversee the other Women National Teams (U17 and U20).

The South African will add two South African coaches to her backroom staff (Goalkeeping coach and Sports Scientist).

Botes who is a CAF A and SAFA Pro holder has previously served as the Sourh African U-20 Women’s National Team head coach and SAFA Girls Soccer Academy.
