BUL shootout KCCA to reach Stanbic Uganda Cup semis

BUL FC prevailed to the semifinals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup after eliminating KCCA FC 6-5 on penalties.

The two sides played out to a one-all draw in normal time and extra time at Njeru Technical centre in Njeru on Saturday.

Alex Kitata gave the 2022 competition winners the lead in opening ten minutes before Etienne Katenga restored parity four minutes later.

In the final minutes of extra time, KCCA had a penalty shout waved away by referee Mashood Ssali when left back Nicholas Mwere looked to have handled the ball in the forbidden area.

After 120 minutes of football, the winner was to be determined via a penalty shootout.

Ibrahim Kazindula, Ibrahim Mugulusi, Joel Mutakubwa, Ronald Otti, Walter Ochora and Pascal Ngoobi scored for BUL FC while Joram Kirya failed to convert his.

Musitafa Mujuzi, Mustafa Kizza, Joel Sserunjogi, Filbert Obenchan, Emmanuel Loki all converted while defenders Herbert Achai and Peter Magambo missed from 12 yards.

In the other game on Saturday, Pajule Lions stormed the semifinal stage after a 1-0 win over Packwach Young Stars.

Pajule and KCCA FC join NEC FC who beat Police FC in the first quarterfinal on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the quarterfinal stage will climax on Sunday when Kitara FC host holders Vipers SC at Masindi Municipal Stadium.
