Opoka lauds Ugandan teams for spirited performance at ISF World Schools Basketball Championship

Christopher Opoka has lauded the fighting spirit displayed by the two Ugandan teams that represented the Pearl of Africa at the recently concluded ISF World Schools Basketball Championship 2024 that was held at Macao in China.

Opoka who is also the vice chairperson Association of Secondary Schools Headteachers of Uganda (ASSHU) made the remarks upon the arrival of the Uganda Girls basketball the team at Entebbe International Airport today Thursday 4th-July at 10:00am,

“Our girls finished 12th out of the 17 countries that took part in the competitions, we are proud that we were the only representatives from Africa.”

“We thank the government for always providing the support, I appreciate both teams for the fight and their level of discipline a lot has been learnt and I believe the coaches have acquired a lot which will help us improve technically, I am very sure next time when we represent the country we shall give the best.”

Jonathan Egau the head coach of the girls believes Ugandan teams can do better if the coaches prepare the athletes perfectly well,

“We competed with the best on the globe and we were exposed what we need to do is getting back to work and make sure that we prepare the athletes well so that they can be able to compete at that level”

China and Greece were crowned champions in the girls and the boys categories respectively.

The boys team Elite High School Entebbe will arrive on Friday July at 10:55am
