Uganda Premier league champions SC Villa have been eliminated from the ongoing CECAFA Kagame Cup.
SC Villa’s elimination was confirmed after Red Arrows 1-0 win over ASAS Telecom on Tuesday.
Uganda’s representatives SC Villa needed ASAS Telecom to do them a favour over Red Arrows to progress to the semis.
Red Arrows advanced to the semifinal stage as the best second placed team after finishing second in their group with 6 points joining Sudan’s Al Hilal who topped the group.
For SC Villa their journey in the competition ends at the group stage having finished second in group C with five points.
They cruised to a 3-1 win over Singida, played out to a goalless draw with South Sudan’s Al Merriekh Bentiu and a 1-1 stalemate with APR FC who finished top with 7 points.
SC Villa are three time CECAFA Kagame winners and their elimination will see them turn focus on the forthcoming Pilsner Super 8 as well as their CAF Champions League first Preliminary round against Ethiopia’s CBE due in August.
