League football returns to Nakivubo for the first time in seven years as Express host Mbale Heroes

Uganda Premier league football will return to Nakivubo Stadium for the first time since 2017 as Express FC host Mbale Heroes on Monday night.

Nakivubo had last hosted a league game on 27th February, 2017 when SC Villa beat Sadolin Paints 1-0 thanks to an Emmanuel Okwi sole goal.

Express had a horrible 2023/24 campaign and will be aiming to turn things around this term.

The Red Eagles have boosted their squad with experienced players in Said Kyeyune, new club captain Emmanuel Wasswa who returns to the team after a short stint last term as well as left back Mustafa Kizza.

Baker Mbowa coached side have won just Two of their last 14 league matches, losing 11 and one draw.

Mbale Heroes make a return to the Uganda Premier league after spending close to two decades in the lower leagues.

They finished third on the FUFA Big League table to secure promotion to the topflight division.
