Denis Omedi’s wonder goal against KCCA FC in FUFA Super 8 has been named among the 11 nominees for this year’s FIFA Puskas Award.
The Puskas Award is dedicated to the best goal of the year in the annual FIFA Awards.
Omedi’s spectacular rabona goal against KCCA makes him the first ever Ugandan to achieve the nomination.
He will compete with Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho, Algeria’s Yassine Benzia, West Ham’s Mohamed Kudus and Hull City’s Jaden Philogene among others.
Just like Omedi, Philogene also scored with a rabona kick against Rotherham United in the Sky Bet English Championship.
The voting has officially kicked off today via the FIFA website and will officially close on Tuesday 10th December.
The Puskas Award is named after the legendary Hungarian striker Ferenc Puskas who was famous for scoring spectacular goals.
The eventual winner of the coveted accolade will be confirmed at the 2024 FIFA Best Awards which are slated to be held early next year.
