“Chess is an interesting game that helps you think hard. I have managed to achieve the little I have so far achieved due to continuous training.”

Katongole also advised young girls to try and practice the game since it doesn’t require a lot of energy,

“Being a girl I believe I stand being a star chess doesn’t need a lot of energy hence easier for us credit to my friends Calvin Peter Kayiwa, Cedric Mutebi, Helen Naija and Tisha Kaddu who inspired me to play chess and have helped a lot in my learning process.” Katongole remarks.

The 2025 National Chess Championship is organised by the Uganda Chess Federation and will be FIDE Rated.
