Mbowa eyes positive start as Mbale Heroes host Mbarara City in early relegation six pointer

Relegation threatened sides Mbale Heroes and Mbarara City will face off at Mbale Municipal Stadium on Thursday 13th-February.

This will be Baker Mbowa’s first game at the helms of Mbale in the Uganda Premier League, the first was a Uganda Cup tie with Buganda Regional League side Simba FC which they lost 3-2.

Hosts Mbale Heroes are at the bottom of the table with only nine points collected from the first round.

Mbarara City on the other hand are currently on 17 points.

Mbale Heroes was among the busiest sides in the January transfer securing 11 new signings.

Herbert Kibirango, Charles Ssebutinde, Robert Eseru, Mark Nsubuga, Aberdeen Muwanguzi Ssajabi, Musa Ssali, Paul Musamali, Peter Ssenkungu, Joseph Kafumbe, Simon Mbuya and Jimmy Kanakulya are the new signings that joined Mbale Heroes.

Livingston Mbabazi’s also brought in some new faces Bernard Ndifuna, Jimmy Ndalambi and Peter Onzima, Martin Owalamu and Ibrahim Kazindula.

The Ankole Lions lost captain Joseph Akandwanaho to Tanzanian side Tabora United.

The reverse fixture at Kakyeka in Mbarara ended 1-0 in favor of Mbarara.

Victory for either side will enlight their survival chances.
