Uganda U-17 national team (Cubs) have secured a round of 32 FIFA U-17 World Cup slot following their 1-0 win over France in their final group game.
Uganda needed James Bogere’s first goal at the Aspire Zone Pitch 3 in Al Rayyan, Qatar to overcome the 2001 World champions on Tuesday.
Bogere gave Brian Ssenyondo coached side the lead in the 18th minute of the contest after being fed by Hamuza Ssengooba.


The Cubs came into the game needing victory to progress to the last 32 of the competition.
Tuesday’s result means Uganda finish third with four points same as France and Canada who finished first and second in Group K.
In the competition the top eight of the 12 third placed ranked teams advance to the round of 32.
