Reigning league champions Vipers SC dropped more points in a goalless stalemate with Calvary FC at the Midigo playground on Tuesday.

The Venoms who last week played out to a 1-1 draw with NEC FC at Lugogo needed maximum points against the newcomers to go top of the league standings.

Without their starman Allan Okello along with defenders Rogers Torach and Hillary Mukundane who are with the national team for AFCON, the venoms couldn’t prevail over the Yumbe based side.

Calvary had only managed one point before Tuesday’s stalemate with the champions.

Vipers had Abubakali Walusimbi limp off in the 17th minute before being replaced by Patrick Mbowa.

Defender Kevin Dasylva had his effort at the half hour mark hit the crossbar.

Isaac Ogwang, Milton Karisa and Yunus Sentamu all had decent chances to strike for the visitors but couldn’t breakdown Calvary’s resistance.

Vipers are now on 18 points and next play BUL FC on Saturday at Kitende while Calvary are at the rock bottom with just two points.
