The FUFA Drum quarterfinal stage kicked off on Saturday, 21st with Acholi taking on Busoga in the first leg at Booma Stadium.
Dickson Matama gave the visitors the lead before Brian James Obedi levelled matters for the home side as the two sides shared spoils.
Acholi started well and came close on numerous ocassions in the first half through Obedi but Busoga defended resolutely to keep the score goalless at halftime.
In the second again the home side created more scoring opportunities but it were caught cold when Matama gave the visitors the lead.
Obedi restored parity for the home side who will head to Busoga next Saturday in the return leg fixture with hope of reaching the semis.
Busoga will host the second leg at Saza Ground in Iganga on 28th March with the aggregate winner advancing to the last four of the prestigious event that is about celebrating Ancenstry.
Meanwhile, Bunyoro Province drew goalless with 2023 winners West Nile at Royals Park in Butema in the other game played on Saturday.
On Sunday, 22nd March, Teso will entertain Lango while Inaugural winners Buganda will take on Tooro in the other quarterfinal fixture.
The province based annual tournament, themed on celebrating the nation’s ancestry, has so far attracted a number of sponsors like Rock Boom, MTN and Nile Special who were lured by the big fan numbers that grace the matches.
