Commonwealth: She Cranes beat South Africa to finish 5th in Birmingham

Uganda’s National Netball team the She Cranes beat South Africa 54-48 to fifth at the ongoing Commonwealth games in Birmingham.

This is Uganda’s first win over South Africa’s Spar Proteas since 2011 at the All Africa games in Maputo.

The fifth finish in Birmingham is Uganda’s best ever finish at the Commonwealth games. She Cranes could also rise to 5th place in the World rankings.

Mary Nuba Cholhok scored 31 goals, Irene Eyaru contributed 21 and Shadia Nassanga added two more as Fred Mugerwa coached side.
