Kiplimo, Cheptegei lead Uganda’s team for World Cross Country Championships

Uganda’s iconic long-distance running duo of Joshua Cheptegei and Jacob Kiplimo will headline the nation’s team for the forthcoming World Cross Country Championship.

The 2024 World Athletics Cross Country Championships will be held in Belgrade, Serbia, on 30 March 2024.

Originally the 45th edition of the World Cross Country Championships was planned to be held in Medulin and Pula, Croatia, on 10 and 11 February 2024. However, due to lack of preparations, it was announced by World Athletics that the event is to be moved to Belgrade, Serbia.

Kiplimo is the reigning senior Men’s World Cross Country champion having clinched gold in Bathurst, 2023. The Ugandan stormed to victory in a time of 29 minutes and 17 seconds while Berihu Aregawi finished second in 29:26.

2019 World Cross Country champion, Cheptegei was third in 29 minutes and 37 seconds.
