NEC FC will entertain league leaders Kitara FC on Thursday night at MTN Omondi Stadium Stadium in Lugogo.

Hussein Mbalangu’s NEC come into this contest after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Wakiso Giants in their previous game at Kabaka Kyabaggu.

They are currently fifth on the Uganda Premier league table and seven points adrift of their next opponents Kitara FC.

Kitara on the other hand played out to a goalless stalemate with second placed BUL FC at Masindi Municipal Stadium last week.

Victory for NEC will see them close the gap on Brian Ssenyondo coached side while a defeat will end their hopes of winning the title in their dream season.

Kitara FC assistant coach Issa Serwanja anticipates a tough contest but remains optimistic they will smile to maximum points

“We expect a tough fixture against NEC who lost to Wakiso Giants and we also drew with BUL FC which was a very tough encounter. We are going to do what is possible to make sure that we collect three points. We are still in the top five and so it’s a battle between the top five but we shall do what is possible to get three points.” Said Serwanja

The Hoima based side won the first round meeting 1-0, courtesy of a Jude Semugabi strike. A win over NEC on Thursday will see them become the first team to win six away games this campaign.
