Vipers SC suffered a fresh dent in their hopes to retain the Uganda Premier League title as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Soltilo Bright Stars on Thursday evening.

Livingstone Mbabazi’s side went ahead in the 31st minute strike from Eric Kenzo Kambale.

The visitors however restored parity in the second period through Shafik Kakande after being fed by Denis Omony Kaka.

Earlier in the first period, Nelson Senkatuka had a golden opportunity to silence the home fans with the goalkeeper to beat but was denied by returning Vipers SC custodian Jack Komakech.

Vipers SC captain Milton Karisa and Yunus Sentamu both had decent chances to score but failed to hit the target.

Mbabazi would be disappointed with the result as his side failed to grab three points. They had previously played to a goalless draw with Gaddafi FC.

They are now seven points adrift of leaders Kitara FC who have played two more games.
