Vipers SC reached a third consecutive Stanbic Uganda Cup final after eliminating 2019 finalists Bright Stars 4-1 on aggregate.
The newly crowned league champions lost the second leg 1-0 with Nelson Senkatuka scoring the only goal for Bright Stars at Kavumba Recreation grounds.
In the first leg, Vipers overpowered Bright Stars 4-0 at St.Mary’s Kitende, courtesy of
Bright Anukani (2 goals), Yunus Sentamu and Karim Watambala goals.
Twice winners of the competition, Vipers will now take on Big League side Police FC in the final at Akii-bua Memorial Stadium on 3rd June.
The Venoms have now reached three Uganda Cup finals and stay on track for their first ever domestic double.
Alex Isabirye Musongola who has also reached the final of the competition for a third successive year (twice with BUL FC and now with Vipers). This is also Isabirye’s 6th Uganda Cup final overall as a coach and has managed to win three times (2012, 2013 and most recently in 2022) with URA FC, Victoria University and BUL FC respectively.
He now be seeking to become the first coach lead the Kitende based side to a double.
Police FC will only be featuring in the Uganda Cup final for the first time in 20 years since PoliceFC last played a Uganda Cup Final. In 2003 they managed to play the finals but lost to Express FC 3-1 under the late Paul Hasule.
