KCCA FC bowed out of the CAF Confederation Cup despite their 3-2 win over Libya’s Abu Salem in the return leg of the final Preliminary round at St.Mary’s Stadium in Kitende on Saturday.

The Kasasiro Boys crashed out 5-4 on aggregate.

Abu Salem matched on to the group stages of the competition. The Libyan side won the first leg 3-1 in Tunisia.

Goals from Muhammad Shaban and a brace from second half substitute Usama Arafat were not enough to send the Lugogo outfit into the group stages.

Abdulmunem Aleiyan and Peter Nworah netted for the visitors.

Shaban gave KCCA FC the lead in the first period with a cool finish.

The visitors restored parity in 69th minute with a well converted Aleiyan penalty.

With seven minutes to normal time, Usama made 2-1 for KCCA FC with a timely header but the lead shortlived when custodian Juma Mutebi failed to save Nworah’s effort moments later.

In added time, Usama completed his brace with another header.

KCCA will now concentrate on the league and they will next host Maroons FC on Tuesday at Lugogo.
