Striker Ronald Ssempala is close to joining Kenya Premier League side Sofapaka FC, Swift Sports understands.
Ssempala is currently a free agent after his contract with newly promoted side Lugazi FC expired at the end of the previous campaign.
He is currently training Sofapaka in Nairobi as preparations for the upcoming 2024/25 season intensify.
Rwanda Premier League side Musanze FC were also interested in signing Ssempala during this ongoing transfer window.
Ssempala is also a former Soltilo Bright Stars and Police FC striker.
Last season, Derrick Ngoobi, Thomas Kakaire and striker Seif Batte were the Ugandan players featuring for Sofapaka FC.
As earlier reported by this website, Ngoobi has left the club after only five months.
The 2009 Kenya Premier League champions will be seeking for an improved season having survived relegation through a playoff last season.
