Kitara FC won the 2026 Stanbic Uganda Cup with a 2-1 win over nine time champions SC Villa in the final that was held on Saturday at FUFA Technical Centre.

The Stanbic Uganda Cup final exploded into SC Villa life when Patrick Henry Kaddu scored into his own net in the 12th minute.

But the lead shortlived when Diego Misi Ssemugera also struck into his own net for Kitara’s equalizer a few minutes later.

Jimmy Kalema stunned the Jogoos into silence two minutes into the second half when fired past David Lukwago who had kept Villa into the game for his decent saves in the first half.

Kitara prevailed to their second Uganda Cup title having won it in 2024 when they beat NEC FC in the final that was held at Muteesa II stadium in Wankulukuku.

For Villa the long wait continues, with their previous triumph coming in 2015 following their win over joint record holders KCCA FC.

Kitara will now have the honor of representing Uganda at the CAF Confederation Cup next season while league winners Vipers are to feature in the CAF Champions League.
