Stanbic Uganda Cup champions Kitara FC are close to sealing a deal for SC Villa forward Charles Lwanga, Swift Sports Uganda understands.
Lwanga is currently a free agent following expiration of his employment contract at the record Uganda Premier league champions.
This website has established that Lwanga is close to joining Kitara FC and the deal could be sealed this weekend.

KCCA FC were also scrambling for Lwanga’s signature but sources reveal he has decided to join Kitara FC in this transfer window.
Kitara FC President last month stated that his side were courting several players from SC Villa, Vipers among others in the bid to beef up their squad ahead of a busy 2026/27 schedule.
When Lwanga returned to SC Villa at the start of the 2023/24 season, he won the league title scoring in the game against NEC that handed ended the Jogoos 20-year title drought.
Last season, he was Villa’s third highest scorer in the league with six goals only behind Frank Ssebuufu (9) and Najib Yiga(7) scoring more than him.
In 2024/25 season, he was SC Villa’s top scorer in the league with 11 goals while the club’s starman Patrick Jonah Kakande managed eight goals for the club.
He is a former student at St Marys SS Kitende where he won multiple national and East Africa titles. He also turned up for KCCA FC and Villa.
At Kitara FC, Lwanga is set to join Misi Diego Ssemugera his former teammate at SC Villa.
SC Villa have already part ways with Elvis Ngonde who joined KCCA FC while Hassan Mubiru is on his way to Tanzania’s Azam FC.
