Express FC have intensified efforts to meet the mandatory requirements of Club Licensing ahead of the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season.
The Red Eagles have struck a partnership with Wakiso Hill Women Club to serve as their official Women’s Club, according to 102.1 FUFA FM.
The nitty-gritties of the partnership are yet to be established with both clubs expected to make communication soon.
Wakiso Hill, which currently competes in the Finance Bank Women Elite League, previously served as Vipers’ official Women’s Club between 2023-25.
The development comes as Express were denied a license to compete in the forthcoming season because of seven reasons which included lack of a Women’s Team.
Among other reasons, Express didn’t operate a G2 Academy, didn’t have a qualified Youth Coach and didn’t have proof of payment of remuneration of the players and staff.
The club also didn’t possess a club domain email address and verified social media accounts as well as a training ground.
Express, who recently appointed Becky Cynthia Nakimera as their new CEO, are working around the clock to fulfill the aforementioned requirements to lodge an appeal before Monday 27th July.
Express alongside Lugazi, UPDF FC and newcomers Kataka FC and Blacks Power FC are the clubs that were not granted licences by the Club Licensing Committee.
Kitara FC, Entebbe UPPC, Maroons FC, BUL FC and Mbarara City received Category Two Licenses having met all mandatory requirements but have outstanding areas to address under the best-practice criteria.
KCCA FC, Vipers SC, NEC FC, SC Villa, URA FC, Police FC, Kigezi HomeBoyz and Ntugasaze FC all received Category One Club Licenses having fulfilled all mandatory, obligatory and best-practice Club Licensing requirements.
