Red hot Kakande keeps Villa’s title hopes alive with vital goal against Gaddafi

Substitute Patrick Jonah Kakande rode to the rescue as SC Villa beat relegation threatened Gaddafi FC 1-0 at Gaddafi Arena on Thursday. It was his 8th goal of the season, putting him in strong contention for player of the season.

Dusan Stojanovic’s side looked set to drop points once again in the title run in until second half substitute Kakande slotted home the all important goal in the 77th minute on his birthday.

Early in the first period of the contest, Umar Lutalo missed a penalty for the record Uganda Premier league champions.

Returning Hakim Kiwanuka, Abas Kyeyune and David Owori also squandered numerous scoring opportunities for the Stojanovic’s side.

SC Villa return to fourth place with 45 points with a game in hand over leaders Kitara FC who are currently on 47 points.

Gaddafi on the other hand are in the relegation mix and are 13th on the table with 19 points, just a point above the red zone.

SC Villa will return to action on Wednesday, May 1st at Mandela National Stadium against rivals KCCA FC while Gaddafi will next travel to Wakiso Giants.
