Vipers will go top of the Uganda Premier League table if they win or at least draw against Soltilo Bright Stars in a 2pm kick off at Kavumba.

The Venoms are currently second placed and head into this fixture in a buoyant mood after winning their derby against KCCA FC courtesy of Milton Karisa’s late goal.

They are on 45 points same as third placed KCCA but one behind leaders SC Villa who have played two games more.

Soltilo Bright Stars on the other hand are 9th on the log with 32 points from 24 games played.

Team News

Vipers are welcoming back striker Yunus Sentamu from injury but will be without defender Murushid Juuko and goalkeeper Alfred Mudekereza who are on the road to recovery.

Karisa got a knock in their game against KCCA but he is in a perfect shape to play today. He has eight goals on his name and will be expected to be key once again.

Bright Stars will be without their skipper Andrew Kyambadde who is suspended after accumulating three bookings.

Striker Nelson Senkatuka (eight goals this season) also returns after missing the previous game through suspension.

Long term absentee Simon Ssemayange (injury) and Ivan Irinimbabazi (now in Scotland for trials) are other absentees in the encounter.

Frank Kato Kizanyiro can’t play against his parent club since he is on loan from Vipers.

What They Say

Asaph Mwebaze (Soltilo Bright Stars)

” The preparations for this game has been in accordance to those things we have been doing this season. We are prepared enough to take on this game.”

On Kyambadde’s absence

” Kyambadde has been a very big piece in this club this season but like I have been saying time and again, Bright Stars is a team of collective effort. Every player means a lot to the team.”

Alex Isabirye (Vipers SC)

” We are facing a team that has been getting the results, that has good coaches and a team that works as a group.”

“They have players that work as a unit so I know, it won’t be easy but we are trying to see that we get three points for whichever game we play.”

The other eight games have ended in draws including the reverse fixture this season which ended goalless at Kitende.
